Canadian Parents for French - Quebec

Active in Quebec since 2004, Canadian Parents for French - Quebec, aka le Conseil des parents francophiles, is a branch of a pan-Canadian organization with more than 26,000 members across Canada. Run by a volunteer board of directors, CPF values French as an integral part of Canada and is dedicated to the promotion and creation of French second language learning opportunities for young canadians. The vision is that French and English-speakers live together in mutual respect and appreciation of each other's language and culture and where linguistic duality forms an integral part of society.

The CPF's mandate is to gradually improve access to French-language instruction for all Canadians, though the Quebec wing has a more specific focus on improving the level of bilingualism among Anglophone and Allophone communities. Additionally, the CPF-QC values more research into the dynamics of how a bilingual society functions, to what level of societal proficiency 'French as Second Language' students are required to demonstrate, and why, especially in recent years, there has been such an upswing in enrolment of English-speaking children into the French-language school system.

CPF-QC also organizes local, regional and provincial Concours d'art oratoire, where secondary students in Quebec come together in a public-speaking contest improving their ability to express themselves in their second language. French for the Future is another activity that CPF helps to organize where Secondary 4 and 5 students spend a day in French culture, discussing their future in Quebec.
