Many English-speaking Montrealers from Laval, the South Shore, Montreal East, Montreal Centre and the West Island (including Vaudreuil-Soulanges) came to give their input on the following discussion papers, touching on the issues that concerned them the most:

Demographics
Health and Social Services
Education
Social participation
Arts, Culture and Heritage
Economic Development and Employment

Moreover, it was the quality of these community members’ insights that made the Community Forums such a great success. I want to thank those of you who attended these meetings in such large numbers.

For those of you who were unable to attend, there is still time to submit your comments.
There will be a public consultation forum taking place on April 11, 2007, from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30p.m. in the Verdun Room at the Hotel Hilton Montréal Bonaventure, located at 900, de la Gauchetière St. West, in downtown Montreal.

The GMCDI Steering Committee urges the English-speaking Community of the Greater Montreal Area to come ‘en masse’ to the public consultation forum. Invite your colleagues, friends and family to attend this very important event, which may help determine the future of the English-speaking communities of Quebec.

You can also offer your thoughts by email at gmcdi@qcgn.ca and visit the GMCDI website at www.qcgn.ca/greatermontrealinitiative to view the six discussion papers as well as all the latest news on the Greater Montreal Community Development Initiative.

Regards,

Don Taylor
